You may still have some questions about how Prestige Auto Assessing Services can help you with your vehicle assessment.

Below are our frequently asked questions and our answers to them.

If you’ve had an accident and you’re not at fault, then an independent vehicle assessor is necessary, so that you won’t be at the mercy of the other driver or their insurance company. Our independent assessors will help you in the following ways:

  • guide you through the claim and repair process using our simple process
  • professionally and independently assess your vehicle for an accurate valuation
  • refer you to a range of reputable quality repairers
  • refer you to dedicated recovery agents to help you with any claim disputes

To find out the value of your vehicle we recommend that you obtain a written valuation. We provide tailored vehicle valuations for all makes and models including classic, rare and vintage cars, trucks, motorbikes, caravans and marine.

We do vehicle assessments within 24 hours and finalise reports within 48 hours. We are available 52 weeks of the year.

Although our office is based in Tullamarine, Victoria, we cover the Melbourne metro and Victorian regional areas. We also provide specialist consulting and assessments interstate, as required.

Best of all, we come to you. This means we provide the vehicle assessment at your home, business or panel repair centre. Whatever is most convenient for you.

We specialise in assessing the following types of vehicles:

  • Motor vehicles – all makes and models including classic, rare and vintage cars
  • Motorbikes
  • Trucks
  • Caravans and motor homes
  • Farm machinery
  • Heavy haulage vehicles
  • Marine and personal watercraft (PWC)

If you have a dispute with your Insurance Company or the other driver’s Insurance Company, then we can help by inspecting, assessing your vehicle and calculating your car replacement cost before the accident.

If you are not insured, you will need a recovery agency to act on your behalf and manage your claim. Otherwise you will be at the mercy of the other driver, their insurance company (if they have one), repairers and even tow truck companies.

An insurance write-off means either the vehicle has so much damage that it is unsafe to be repaired and driven. Or, the vehicle is safe, but the repair cost is more than the value of the vehicle.

Most vehicles are insured for their “market value” or agreed value. This means if the vehicle is damaged beyond economic or safe repair, then the insurer will pay the pre-accident market value of the vehicle or the insured amount.

To determine a pre-accident value, an independent vehicle assessor will provide a detailed assessment, which should include:

  • consulting trade guides
  • adjusting the value for variations to the vehicle’s odometer reading
  • the vehicle’s overall condition
  • modifications that might add value to the vehicle
  • market trends and whether the vehicle is rare or unique
  • quotes from vehicle buying companies
